Okay, here we go! Time to run the pieces I had in the pipeline before my decade+ at Takimag ended.
I submitted this piece on April 21st, a day before I told Taki that conditions had become such that I could no longer continue to write for him. But I made it clear I didn’t want to leave him in the lurch for that week, so I was submitting a piece “on the house.” Technically, I was six columns into my next pay cycle, but I told Taki I wouldn’t ask for payment for them…okay I was kind of expecting him to say “no, we’ll still pay. It was content we ran, so we owe you, it’s only right.”
He didn’t.
Keep that in mind when you’ll have the chance to kick in a few bucks at the end!
Anyway, my last piece that ran, “L.A. Bueno?” on April 15, ended with:
My point is, this is why L.A. is sucking less and less (as NYC sucks more and more). Crazed black man on drugs threatens a family. Mexican husband chokes him like a chicken wing. White and Mexican cops treat the husband with respect, Jewish DA rules the death justified, and blacks don’t dare take to the streets because Mexis would Emmett Till them in an instant.
That’s how it should work. No Chauvin trial, no Penny trial. A populace defending itself, and a DA who allows it.
If you want me to give that up because I’m supposedly oppressed by occasionally having to speak a few words of Spanish, get bent.
Next week I’ll go into specifics of last year’s DA vote. You might find the breakdown revealing.
So here, two months later, is that promised Part II, which Taki didn’t run (I’ve altered nothing from the original submission):
Frownie Brownies and Attackie Blackies
Should MAGA put the brakes on the “we’re winning the Latinos” boastful joy that’s put Trumpworld in a euphoric cloud of fajita stank and leafblower exhaust since November?
Some rightists seem to think so, as evidenced by the viral spread on rightist X of a New Republic article based off a tweet based off a study by an org called the Americas Society Council of the Americas (ASCOA, as opposed to ASK-HO-A, which is a hotline to get advice from ghetto whores).
“This is Candace Owens, how may I help you?”
Americas Society Council of the Americas. What a name. Kind of like the Cleveland Betterment Association of Cleveland or the German Coalition of Germany Germans.
ASCOA is a Rockefeller-funded nonprofit that “explores the culture and current affairs of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada.”
Because Canada has so much in common with the Caribbean.
And ASCOA wants to reassure leftists that Latinos did not take a turn for the right last November.
So I thought I’d dig into that claim.
To start with, it’s easy to forget that as happy as MAGAs are with the November exit polls – 46% of Latinos went for Trump, including 55% of Latino men – leftists are equally unhappy. It’s easy to forget because leftists are currently irrelevant. That’s the situation the losing side always finds itself in following a defeat. Hell, the only way for the losing side in a presidential election to maintain relevance in the post-election months is to do something asinine like storm the Capitol.
But nobody’s that stupid, right?
Anyway, leftists have been pouting about those Latino figures. They’ve even been aping MAGA, claiming that the exit polls are “fake news,” as detailed in this Axios piece.
Leftists may not accept Trump as their savior, but they do cede he’s a wise teacher.
That New Republic piece is based off a tweet thread by “award-winning poet” Vanessa Angélica Villarreal.
I looked up some of her poetry:
A flatulent wetback named Paco, Put too much hot sauce on his taco. The gas overloaded, his anus exploded, And blew him from L.A. to Morocco.
I like her work.
La Poetita claims that it was only Cubans, not Mexicans, behind the pro-Trump numbers. And she’s totally unemotional and unbiased:
The “Latino vote” media narrative is driving violent wedges between vulnerable marginalized communities and in retaliation, people are calling ICE on their neighbors. … It’s just a small relief to see your group didn’t go 50/50 for a fascist. … You know what. Maybe I’m deleting this. This is not productive. I was reacting out of fear and deep sadness to the “report Latinos to ICE” tweets and trying to prove something, earn trust maybe. Maybe numbers don’t help grief. They’re just more weapons to point at each other.
Yep, I trust her judgment entirely. She’s not even slightly screwy.
Villarreal’s thread is based on a “report” from ASCOA supposedly showing that whereas Cubans did go all-in for Trump, Mexicans were only 33% pro-Trump. Problem is, the ASCOA report, from November 4th, is based on pre-election “intent” polls, not exit polls (all of which are in agreement regarding the surge in Latino support for Trump).
So the value of that report when it comes to contradicting the exit polling is rather limited.
But you know what’s even more limited? Using Trump at all to gauge political leanings. Trump is his own thing, a unique beast, and not at all helpful in understanding general rightward of leftward demographic shifts. Hell, using Harris to gauge Latinos is not useful either, because she was such a bad candidate. In the 75% Latino L.A. suburb Downey, the “Mexican Beverly Hills,” Biden won by 35% in 2020, but Harris only won by 16%. Rightward shift? Or is it just that Mexis really hate cackling female blacks?
When gauging Mexicans, or any demo, I prefer to look at issues, not candidates.
Let’s examine how Mexicans responded to the crime issue in November.
Prop. 36, the anti-Soros recriminalization of theft initiative, passed every county in California, despite being opposed by Newsom.
There are 58 counties in CA. 12 have Latino majorities (13 if you assume, as I do, that L.A. has more beans than are counted in the census). Prop. 36 easily passed every Latino-majority county, even Tulare County with a 66.1% bean majority and Imperial County with a striking 85.4% bean majority.
But lets get even more micro and examine the L.A. County DA’s race (Soros minion Gascon vs. tough-on-crime Hochman). A vote against Gascon was not just a vote against “progressive” prosecution, but a vote against a fellow bean (albeit a Cubano).
For this next part, all population figures are voting age only.
Only five of L.A.’s 15 City Council districts went pro-Gascon. Ten went anti-Gascon, including District 9, which is 76% bean. Two of the pro-Gascon/pro-crime districts were, of course, the only two with enough blacks to make a difference (the average percentage of blacks of voting age in L.A.’s Council districts ranges from 3% to 5%, but District 8 has 36% and District 10 has 21%, and they went pro-Gascon/pro-crime). The district that went the most pro-Gascon/pro-crime, District 13, is 39% bean and 53% white and Asian, so you can’t pin that on Mexis alone.
Districts 6 and 7, both 65% Mexi, went against Gascon.
The bottom line is, in L.A., Mexis swung the vote against Gascon. 76% bean District 9, 65% bean Districts 6 and 7, 59.5% bean District 15, all voted to kick Gascon to the curb.
Even the L.A. Times was forced to admit, “Hochman swept the vote-rich Westside and every council district in the San Fernando Valley (42% Hispanic), plus the district that runs from Watts south to the Port of Los Angeles. He also eked out a win in Councilmember Curren Price’s South Los Angeles district, which is four-fifths Latino and has high concentrations of poverty.”
We take those results and couple them with the fact that Mexis comprise over half of the LAPD and LASD, and we couple that with poll numbers showing that male Mexicans have a “positive attitude” toward police that’s equal to polling results of white males, and what do we see? We see an issue that’s an inroad to the Mexican population in L.A. and, I’d argue, SoCal as a whole.
The problem is, rightists don’t think like leftists...and MAGA rightists don’t even think like humans.
Leftists will take an “inroad” issue and exploit it. Abortion is a perfect example. After Roe was overturned, the Democrats used the threat of abortion illegality to drive women to the polls (women lean Dem anyway, of course, but the Dems used abortion to score red state victories in 2022; the issue resonated with centrists, including women who lean right on certain issues).
Dems understood that the key to using abortion for political gain was to not couple it with other issues. Use abortion to get your open-borders guy elected. Don’t tether abortion to open borders. Keep single-issue voters focused on their single issue. Dems get that. In 2022 they didn’t say “if you agree with us on abortion rights, we don’t welcome your vote unless you also agree with us on trannies and police defunding.”
That would’ve been stupid, so of course it’s what rightists do.
MAGA’s all about coupling, bundling. “You want closed borders? You have to buy the Holocaust denial package. It comes complete with the Protocols of Zion app installed, and the shirtless Putin ‘Death to Ukraine’ interactive interface.” We see the MAGA obsession with purity tests in every skirmish that broke out among those loons before Trump was even sworn in.
“Vance doesn’t want to pardon every J6 rioter? He’s against pardoning the ones who assaulted cops? HE’S THE ENEMY! THE ENEMY, I DECLARE! Vanquish him; the man is Satan himself.”
During the L.A. DA race, MAGAs got pissed that Hochman wouldn’t endorse Trump. True to form, MAGAs couldn’t conceive of isolating the crime issue and dealing with it individually, on its own terms, unencumbered by extra, partisan baggage, just as the Dems did with abortion in 2022. It had to be bundled with pro-Trump, and when Hochman refused to bundle, MAGAs declared holy war. But Hochman stood firm and won in a landslide. And MAGAs learned not a damn thing from it.
Nor will they ever.
Look, even if Trump builds the wall, even if he deports every illegal with a rap sheet, most of that’s gonna involve Guatemalans, Salvadorans, Venezuelans, and Haitians. Mexicans in America ain’t goin’ nowhere, so we might as well work with what we have. And what he have is the inroad issue of crime.
But every time I say that, just like every time I point out the simple fact that murder rates in L.A. are lower now that Mexis have displaced blacks, I’m called “pro-immigration” or a “Hispanderer,” even though my point is always the same: I’m against “bringing more in” but dealing with who’s here is a political necessity.
Because along with being obsessed with coupling and purity oaths, MAGAs love their fantasy retreat. That place they go in their daydreams where we’ll be able to cleanse the Southwest of Mexicans, that place where silly old Cole and his “pragmatic” approach is the real fantasy, because Cole is weak of faith. Trump will deport every Mexican, and Watts and Compton, formerly black, then bean, will go back to being WHITE...which those areas haven’t been since Eisenhower. But hey, Trump can bend time and space, while dumb ol’ Cole is tethered to the Matrix, trapped in what he thinks is the real world, so he knows not the glory of the RED PILL!
When I was 18 I lived with a punk rock girl who dropped acid like Chiclets, and she had a better command of reality than most MAGAs.
You make inroads where you can when you can when you have to. There’s no reason in SoCal to try to make inroads with blacks; they can’t swing anything but a McDonald’s wet floor cone during a fry fight. But it’s to the GOPs benefit to try to make inroads with beans. Intelligently, by isolating the one issue of commonality: crime.
But you also have to strike when the iron’s hot. It’s arguable, for example, that the abortion issue has cooled for the Dems. 2022 was the moment of panic, but now everyone’s just kinda living in a post-Roe America.
Well, right now is the moment to strike on the crime issue in order to not just sway Mexi voters but motivate Mexi non-voters (Mexis abstain from voting in record numbers). That’s a key difference between Mexi outreach and black and Jew outreach. With the latter two, it’s about getting them to switch sides. But with Mexis, it’s about getting them to turn out at all. And now’s the time to do it.
So of course the GOP won’t.
Hell, I don’t know why I even keep talking about it.
MAGAs aren’t the only fantasists around here, I guess.

All those stats. Are you sure this isn’t an unpublished Steve Sailer article?
Good column, Dave.
One thing Dems need to take into account if they want Latino votes is that Latinos dominate whole industries in LA. Retail workers: mostly Latino. Security guards: mostly Latino. Restaurant managers & owners; maybe not a Latino majority in fine dining but they dominate some convenience foods.
These people really don’t want to lose a bonus (some retailers if a store ‘hits numbers’ will give bonus checks even to cashiers. Cashiers need that extra $200 & are pissed if shoplifters make them lose out on it). They don’t want to have to deal with crazy homeless people. They don’t want homeless people spanging in their taqueria or people dining & dashing.
Poet lady is like all the white people with MFAs who imagine it’s Les Mis/ the French Revolution and they had to steal a crust of bread. They aren’t real working people.
All any politician has to do right now is talk sense to working people. Nurses who don’t like seeing their patients stressed and not getting covered by insurance. Teachers who are sick of students being able to assault them. Small business owners. Security guards. Whoever does that?? Clean sweep.
Instead we have Trump platforming ketamine added Elon; his VP is Peter Thiel’s former twink crush; they’re running things to get richer and they’re openly taking bribes. And the Dems, terrified of alienating any adjunct professors ‘no you can totally keep your food stamps!’ or George Clooney.
Anyone sane who had a modicum of sense and probably no poli sci degree could sweep the nation. None of them will do it though.
Latinos are mostly apolitical, nothing cracks me up like the migrants selling hotdogs around the perimeter of the protest. Not protesting themselves. The ones who do vote just want whoever’s in power to stop fucking up their lives. All any candidate has to do right now is be kind of competent.
