I’ve been a reader of yours for a few years now and I finally (sorry!) subscribed. I hope you don’t move on too much from ranting about Nazis. It makes me feel better and like I’m not the only sane one left.

Also, I’m not nearly as religious as I used to be. But I’ve read Bonhoeffer and a lot about him in my life, and I can’t recall a single criticism that I’ve ever seen of him until reading that this afternoon. It takes a set of brass ones to say that Bonhoeffer gave up Christianity. I actually laughed out loud reading the Tucker quote.

David Cole's avatar

Glad you subbed! And thank you for the comment.

noochness's avatar

This is spray-painting a turd, but one good thing about Carlson bad-mouthing Bonhoeffer is it will call attention to the latter's life and work.

Ricardo's avatar

The claim that "Bonhoeffer gave up Christianity" deserves a non-stop, nationally televised two-hour Rickles-style roast.

Today, he’s pulling in tardy subscribers by the millions. Lord, help us!

"In 2006 Ann Coulter made headlines with a one-liner about an activist group made up of 9/11 widows: “I’ve never seen people enjoy their husbands’ deaths so much.”"

What a line from Coulter. Love her.

BTW, I was in NYC last week and visited the 9/11 museum ... not one mention of the cause of 9/11. The only time I saw Bin Laden was in the exhibit showing childrens' reactions after the event and how they drew the towers on fire, policemen, etc. And one kid draw a picture of Bin Laden. That was it -- one of the only times anyone referenced who the terrorists were and not a word on why. Just found that interesting.

David Cole's avatar

Leave it to NYC to adopt Ilhan Omar's "some people did something" as the museum's official theme.

Bill Fenner's avatar

Strangely, Ilhan Omar's "some people did something" is more reasonable now than any theory of 9/11 Tucker Carlson is promulgating these days though!

David Cole's avatar

LOL!!!! Tucker REALLY fucked up the curve!

Dave, write about how stupid it is to impose tariffs on things that we cannot produce here, such as bananas and coffee. Tardation Nation?

Sarcastic Cynical Texan's avatar

I'm thinkin' that Trump is, unfortunately, our latest demented president . . . damn, no more octogen's in the White House. Trump's 'Tarded Tariffs are destructive as hell, almost as stupid as throwing billions at AI data centers when the electric power generation capacity to run them DOES NOT AND WILL NOT EXIST any time soon, maybe never. And then there is the circular financing regime the 'tech bros' have implemented to get them constructed.

Texas Khaan's avatar

Dave, if you ever need somebody for Cletus' voice or video, you let me know. I am available anytime, except when I'm gone to Mongolia.

Sarcastic Cynical Texan's avatar

David if you would kindly post something real hilarious, so damned funny that I/we can record ourself laughing uncontrollably, the last thing that did that to me was when you ruined Jorge's life. We'll post it on @Tex-Khaan YouTube channel, maybe they won't ban me too?

William Yedor's avatar

Feel free to insult me all you want, Dave. And Joan Rivers said it best re 9/11 widows. The words they fear, "Honey, I'm home."

Harshkumar's avatar

She was rarely funny, and mostly irritating, and I felt sorry for her husband.

Occasionally, though, she was worth listening to.

Did Carson hate her?

David Cole's avatar

Carson LOVED her; she was his permanent guest host. Until she accepted a job to host her own show, and Carson felt betrayed and severed all ties.

Harshkumar's avatar

I can understand his point!

Brad Thomas's avatar

Another astute article. Soros must love the suicidal political insanity.

David Cole's avatar

I'm quite certain he does.

Ricardo's avatar

I thought he was posting under @GroypHimmler1488 ...

Bill Fenner's avatar

"My regulars know that the insults aren’t directed at them. I’m insulting the worst element for them, as their proxy."

Exactly! From one no-good-fuckstick to another, eat shit you non-subscribing silent bastards!

Love ya, Dave. And for the record, I love when you insult us -- the royal us I mean -- not me personally, I'm one of the good ones!!

David Cole's avatar

And you always will be, my friend!

Kelly Harbeson's avatar

Well, Dave. It's a thankless job, pointing out people's logical inconsistencies, but someone has to do it. I continue to doubt that the rise of anti-semitism on the right is organic. And the biggest reason are the statements of the left. Are any on the left (besides the brain-damaged Fetterman) trying to attract voters by moderating their support for open borders, DEI, defunding law enforcement and other losing issues? Or are they just doubling down on the ideas that a majority of the country rejects? So if demonizing Republicans doesn't work, convince Republicans to embrace real demons. This is the real issue. We can't convince the left of anything without the help of the MSM but we can certainly alienate the center-right by allowing the real crazies to become "our voice". Not every enemy of our enemies is actually our friend. BTW is anyone else following Tulsa King with as much enjoyment as I am? The character of "Bodie" the pot shop owner is a ringer for Matt Walsh. So much that I can't watch his content without thinking of the TV show.

David Cole's avatar

TOTALLY right about Bodhi! Can't be unseen.

Thank you for the beers, my friend! Greatly appreciated.

Dave, your Mt Rushmore is going to need an extension, brother. Coupla things...With respect to you & Tom Servo, I've lost my taste for political "spectrum" models, even the horseshoe one. I'm something of a simpleton but it seems to me there are (as you DO say pointedly) just ideas: Ideas that favor human flourishing and ideas that thwart it. Nazis, Commies, and assholes of all political stripes share a lot of bad ideas. The spectrum thing causes a lot of confusion and opens the door to ostensibly good-thinking people to get lost in the Left/Right jungle. Which leads me to Tucker. My observation is he's become a caricature of a guy who thinks he always knows and understands more than mere humans. It drives his thinking into a mental Hall of Mirrors where each misperception leads to two new ones. The only way he's going to save himself is by going dark and reaquainting himself with the great savior, Humility. Nah, who am I kidding? $$$$$$$!!!

David Cole's avatar

Agreed; ain't gonna happen.

Tom Servo's avatar

I have often argued that the political spectrum is not a straight line, with the far right and the far left as opposites. Instead, it is a circle, with the far left meeting the far right. So that would put moderates on the other side of the circle, because the far right and far left have much more in common with each other than they do with moderates. I'm sure this has been written about by others, but I'm too lazy to do the research.

David Cole's avatar

Yep - "horseshoe theory." I mentioned it a couple of times at Takimag, and as a theory, it always proves correct.

Ricardo's avatar

The more the insults and cussing in your articles, the merrier. Perfect for this time of the year.

Another fine piece of penmanship.

Thanks

David Cole's avatar

Thank you, Ricardo! I really appreciate that. You're one of the readers I imagine insulting and cussing alongside me!

Ricardo's avatar

LOL!

I refrain myself more than I should.

I say let them fly. I pretty much gave up on filters a while ago.

Unfortunately the whole "souls ending up in the wrong bodies" thing is actually real: A while back St Peter came up with the idea of outsourcing that task to Indians, and well...

But in all seriousness great job as always. I call Rabbit Boy Tardy Madd, Patron Saint of groyper pseudointelectualism.

"Unfortunately the whole "souls ending up in the wrong bodies" thing is actually real: A while back St Peter came up with the idea of outsourcing that task to Indians, and well..."

Well, look at the bright side. Even if you wake up in the wrong body, at least Microsoft antivirus will keep the malware out.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Dave, thanks for your reassurance that when you are writing in second person, the "you" is not "us." As with the commenter you were responding to, I sometimes get uneasy when I repeatedly read "you moron.....you fool........you retard dick." [I hear enough of that in real time, from my wife.] Even though I know you mean it when you say you love your subscribers. I sometimes have to remind myself that you are writing WITH us and speaking FOR us, NOT AT at us, and it was good to have you reaffirm your approach, particularly for newer readers. Cheers and have a pleasant Thanksgiving, from a guy who is thankful for you.

David Cole's avatar

As I am thankful for good readers and friends like YOU! Happy Thanksgiving, Mark!

I'd really love to see you write some articles about AI companions, social media, and smartphones, and what all that might be doing to kids as they grow up. The same goes for fan sites, cam models, and influencers, and how that's messing with real human relationships and society in general.

Gina Nelson's avatar

So glad you point out how fragile the right is about their image of themselves. I side eye them a lot these days, I get more & more disappointed in them.

David Cole's avatar

Yep. Of all the things to appropriate from the left, "oh, I've just been MURDERED by your cruel words" is perhaps the worst and most irritating one possible.

Gina Nelson's avatar

Keep talking then if that is the case, just make sure I can observe the carnage. I need some entertainment.

Andy Anderson's avatar

Speaking of, "THEY'RE MURDERING ME!" claims, have you seen Candace's latest break from reality concerning the Macrons? I'm not sure whether to laugh or pray for her sanity. I guess I can do both.

David Cole's avatar

Yep - just in time for Christmas she's tobogganing downhill with amazing speed!
