Also, holy crap that shirt is billowy! Makes me look “end-stage Brando” fat. It was the only shirt I had on-hand that didn’t clash with the green screen. I mean, I ain’t in-shape, but I’m not Chris Christie.
Wonderful to see the video returning, Dave! One thing about the writer's strike and your disdain regarding the WGA in particular, I was just watching an Australian TV series called Mr Inbetween (on Hulu) that is highly regarded by critics. There are three seasons, 26 episodes in total, and a grand total of two creative figures making the whole series: one person directing every episode, and one person (who is also the lead actor) writing every episode. Literally no other credits apart from those two guys. And guess what? The series is coherent, compelling and entertaining. That made me think about all the best TV series I've seen of late from Hollywood, such as True Detective, The White Lotus, and a couple others, and again: typical one, maybe two, writers and directors. The absolutely shit and derivative TV is almost always by-committee filmmaking. Check out the credits on any Netflix or Amazon TV series these days (that sucks) and you'll see for 10 episodes they'll have something like 15 - 20 writers working on these and at least a three or four directors. How can you expect to make quality TV with so many voices? I wonder how many of those writers are, as you say, DEI hires -- a lot, I suspect.
Finally!
