You're correct:: good ol' white church-lady, pickaninny huggin' sentimentality will kill us all waaaaay before The Elders of Zion and Rothschilds get around to it.

A.B.: You make a valid point in that last sentence but I have to pick one nit. It seems like the detrimental white sentimentality has ramped up at the same time that Christian church attendance has ebbed. Back when the country was overwhelmingly white and observing Christian it understood the practical uses of violent non-sentimentality (U.S. Grant and W.T. Sherman, anyone?). Serious question: What changed? I think about that a lot, but in my pessimism I also think we've perhaps exceeded a tipping point and we're not getting it back

My instinct is that most white do-gooderism is rooted in the emotional nature of evangelical Protestantism. We're seeing the aimless thrashing around of that brand of worship locked in a perfect storm with secular SJW hysteria (which, oddly enough, loves to talk about what Jesus would do, and what "real Christians" ought to do).

A big topic...

Steve Sailer seems to be leaning in that direction as well! He expounds on this in his latest Takimag piece:

I'm familiar with the name & have probably looked at some of his stuff over the years, but can't remember the last time I did. But he merits a revisit.

Since 2007, I 'd say that the influence of mainline Protestantism in any "conservative strategy" (assuming there ever was one) got poleaxed by the MAGA Evangelicals in the years since. And that's a good thing.

Mainline Protestantism" - your good little WASPy Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Lutherans, and recently, the Methodists - has been ambivalent about "conservatism" for a few decades. They're also the most accepting of female clergy, so there's a double whammy of feminine "save the poor BABIES!!!" sentimentality and feminist histrionics at work in those denominations....which drives away a good portion of the congregation, predictably, makes them double-down in their SJW messaging -- especially to gays -- to fill the empty pews.

Evangelicals? They're growing faster by getting some bleed-off from the woke churches, but hell, you'll see rainbow-coded "WE WELCOME EVERYONE !!" sign on Baptist churches now and again. They have their own forms of mania -- they looooove "Mission trips" -- preferably somewhere where the native folk have very dark skin -- not to mention that there were plenty of them washing the feet of blacks in 2020 to show their desire for "reconciliation". And the megachurches....you've gotta cast a wide net to fill those auditoriums. That means panderi -- I mean, OUTREACH -- especially to Latinos. So onay alkingtay aboutyay ordersbay oryay immigration-relatedyay issuesyay.

Good topic that gets overlooked too often.

But I'll say one thing....I've been attending Orthodox services for the past few months and haven't heard a priest talk about how we need to reach out to "the marginalized" or have a joint service with The Rainbow Pride Community Chapel of Acceptance and Hope to foster inter-faith ecumenicalism.

Those bimbos, barely out of high school, are now on social media and with fan sites making several thousand a month with limited investment to get started and no experience or marketable skills other than manipulating the male sex drive and willing to do almost anything for money with no concern for the consequences. And some are minors doing it with the help of their parents.

I've seen income as high as sixty thousand for one month and several models that made almost a half million dollars in less than three years. It makes no sense that some men pay that much for a virtual fantasy. But they do!

If you're a biological adult female with barely average looks or higher and have an uninhibited, outgoing personality, I can show you how to make a fortune! Lol!

When I was a model photographer several decades ago, the average model made about twenty thousand a year and had to invest considerable time and money to develop her portfolio and career. Many online models now make over ten thousand a month, which doesn't include money from custom content, private shows, affiliate links, advertising revenue, etc. All from the comfort and safety of their home or private studio.

Perhaps Dave can write an article about how the unprecedented change and opportunity in this industry contributes to the negative cultural and economic trends.

Anyway, great article, Dave! But take it easy on Appalachia. There's a lot of good people there, and the few tards can't help that they lost the genetic lottery or have parents that look like the cast in Deliverance.

Why the constant need to dump on red state rubes? I don’t get it. Not everyone can be part of the Beverly Hills glitterati. Gabby and Cletus may not have John Landis on speed dial but they are probably decent guys who’d pull over and help you change a flat. But don’t ask them to share their possum penis jerky. That’s a bit presumptuous.

Smart Essay. Thank You. Re: Cokey-Bim. If people knew, as I know, how cocaine & other such street drugs, are concocted, they wouldn't touch that trash. The substances eating the inside of their face are, get ready, sulfuric acid, cement, gasoline, drain-cleaner, dirty local water, most likely from a local stream/not boiled/not chlorinated/no tetraglycine hydroperiodide, dirty cooking tools/containers/discarded vegetable-sack strainers, dirt from the forest-floor & potassium chloride. People have access to the definitions, side-effects & cautions for the various chemicals in so-called "safe meat alternatives" on their cell-phones. People need to start researching all these so-called plant-safe alternatives & boycotting them. They aren't "safe". They're "Soylent Green" on a bun, or in a beverage. As with my recent look into variations on dried yeast products, e.g., Including Red Star Yeast Platinum® Instant Sourdough with Sorbitan Monostearate a type of synthetic wax & Xanthan Gum a thicker that doesn't require heat as opposed corn starch that requires heat to thicken.

Naturally, I didn't purchase it.

Again, not safe, unnecessary to the baking process & what the heck for?

I think they're fillers to add bulk & weight to the product & fool the customer into thinking they're getting the same amount of usable product. Instead the customer is buying less authentic product & more "Soylent Green" fillers, while the company makes more money selling smaller amounts of the usable product.

Did this $40,000 opus have a script? I'm just curious as to what the plot was going to be. Slasher movie? I remember seeing those direct-to-video, shot on video at the mom-and-pop video stores that used to take cash deposits in case you never returned the video. Like you were going to hold on to one of those direct-to-video craptaculars. I've watched a lot of crap, but I've always found the shot on video movies tough to get through. "Psychos in Love" comes to mind.

No script, just a treatment. I don't do screenplays on spec! The money would've had to be there first. It would've been a horror film - that's the only thing that sold back in the direct-to-video shot-on-video days, and the only type of film the blonde could possibly act in, because of her limited range.

If she destroyed her septum the next step is plastic surgery, and it's all downhill from there. I finally learned why you got banned from twatter - that pussy ran to the mods just because you told him you would end him if he came to your house? Just don't go to Dave's house looking for a fight! Jeesh 😏. What did he expect? I don't know why Musk is coddling the neos but it might have something to do with his S. African background as you suggest. I might buy his spiel about free speech but he's a sensitive little bitch - he banned the guy on twatter who was tracking his private jet USING PUBLIC INFORMATION. What a wuss. I have read that his mother was at least part Jewish, and evidently quite beautiful - a model, in fact. His upbringing was privileged but screwed up. Daddy Musk is a real piece of work, even impregnated an adopted daughter from what I hear. From the second Taki's article we draw two lessons - the dirt isn't magic, and pick your own damn cotton. The bill for that has come due in spades. And lay off the Appalachians man! Now I want to go and re-watch or re-read Deliverance.

Ann as Nell Carter, that will never leave my mind now. Sentimentality has been eroding things for a very long time you are the only one calling it out but it is everywhere, the people who are behind it are always some kind of "empath" and care mostly because they have no real problems anymore & make things worse for everyone they "care" about as well as the collateral damage of those who were not even involved.

Interesting anecdote, David. It’s fascinating how addiction can turn people into something else. Jekyll and Hyde and whatnot. Regarding DEI and media, what’s the driving force behind it? What’s stopping producers from casting more busty bims and buff whites?

You can’t watch a modern show without some sort of race mixing, sexual minority fetish or agenda forced down the throat of the audience, turning a promising work into propaganda trash.

Expand full comment

More to the point, what's stopping INDIE filmmakers from taking advantage of all the busty blonde bims looking for work? I saw a low-budget movie, shot in Florida about 4 years ago, about a dystopic future America in which white girls are kidnapped by the black-run government and used as sex slaves, and the heroes rescue two white chicks to escape into the hills, and the two white girls cast in the part were the homeliest ugmos I've ever seen! I'd have been like, "let the blacks have 'em." But seriously, there are TONS of beautiful women in Florida, and the producer/director chose THOSE two, for roles in which we're supposed to be horrified at the thought of them being defiled. It shows why most low-budget filmmakers never succeed.

What I hate too is when younger people condemn older films as being filled with racism and sexism, as if any viewer can't see them himself--- and as if the filmmakers didn't see them either! And whenever I see or hear the word "problematic", I know I need to go elsewhere.

I think these are obvious qualities in a society, but nowadays if someone is racist towards a minority in fictional media, the character is always portrayed as cruel, uneducated, or even pure evil. I remember seeing shows like Shameless. It started off alright but then it deviated towards LGBT agenda and normalizing casual sex and polyamory. Same thing happened to Simpsons as they went with more virtue-signaling as it is always okay to use Homer as a typical stupid white American but "Thank you, come again?" That goes over the line. Some Indian comedian, Hari something, actually lobbied to kill off Apu because he was "offensive". He even went as far as comparing Apu to minstrel shows and blackface. Every woke minority wants to be the bigger victim these days. They realize it has perks and that is where actual privilege lies.

Another show I stopped watching which also started off good was Penny Dreadful. I liked the idea of vulgarity, horror, and violence in the late Victorian era and I don't mind a sex scene here and there but then they came up with more woke stuff and deviated from the original written characters (Frankenstein, Dracula, Dorian Gray) and lore with even more subjects revolving around homosexuality and not in a subtle way. Then out of thin air they came up with a trans woman and it was clearly a dude being dated by another dude but even then, they went as far as showing the guy's ding dong to say "SEE! SEE! HE HAS A DONG! THAT'S A WOMAN WITH A DONG AND DORIAN GRAY IS INTO THAT!"

I stopped watching that show midway as well.

Hi Dave! I think you've got something with the white sentimentality charge. The White West can't give away the farm fast enough. Even with our warfare, we end up rebuilding everything and giving our former foe the bear hug of brotherhood. Though I didn't know it at the time, it would seem that I've been doing my patriotic duty all along by simply being a heartless bastard. I must admit to feeling a certain degree of vindication just now. So much so that I think I will go outside and pump my fist in the air whilst yelling at no one in particular, "Get off my damn lawn!"

Dave, like a character said in the film The Strange One (1957), starring Ben Gazzara, "alcohol is the opium of the western world." As a nod to this fact, a Shakespeare company that calls itself Shit-Faced Shakespeare does each performance with one of the cast members totally drunk:

Alcohol has played such a huge part in the history of the West (and of Dave!), that it's fitting it gets a part onstage in Shakespeare's plays. I can't stand the stuff myself-- I'm a solipsistic monomaniac who finds modern life hallucinatory enough without adding drugs into my bloodstream. The chemicals produced by sexual stimulation (even if it's self-stimulation) are good enough for me.

"She had that old Anglo sense of decency, fair play, and Christian sentimentality. It’s the weakness that (as I’ve pointed out before, and as Steve Sailer recently did as well) led “foundational white Americans” to get all weepy and protective of nonwhites long before the 20th-century flood of Eastern European Jewish immigrants." Until I lived in Chicago, the concept of "leftist suburb" baffled me; that's because Evanston IL wasn't full of the working class Catholics that got pushed out of the city but exactly the type you describe here.

Fun two piecer. What was the moving your friend was making with Dorothy Stratten? I remember hearing she was making a few when she died.

Yes, this was not the one she was still in the middle of making when she was murdered. It's the one she'd just completed, but her death got the film shelved.

Bill would tell me about how the entire set feared the sound of spurs. Stratten's maniac boyfriend always wore cowboy boots and spurs, and when the crew would hear the jingle of spurs, they'd know he was walking onto the set, which meant there was gonna be trouble.

I read he was a drug addict pimp. Not sure if that is true. It is so uncomfortable to deal with that shit. She was so beautiful.

He was a "pimp" by 1970s Vancouver standards. Which meant that when he came to L.A. he was outclassed. A "player" in Vancouver meant nothing in 1979 L.A. Everyone mocked him, and his cowboy boots, and his faux macho Canadian accent. The bigger pimps, like Hefner and Bogdanovich, ran rings around him trying to exploit Dorothy. A circle of bad guys, all trying to exploit a sincere but simple Vancouver blonde girl. Horrific tragedy. My friend Bill, the Galaxina director, was one of the few non-bad guys. Happily married, he was just trying to make a funny outer space movie.

Paul Snider and Steve Banerjee, another nut, came up with the idea of the all nude male revue with Chippendales back in the 70s. They both met bad ends. Steve had a former business associate Nick Di Noa, a closeted homosexual who was married briefly to actress Jennifer O'Neil, killed only to later die in jail by his own hand while awaiting trail for that particular murder. There were others which he was to have allegedly committed. Steve didn't like competition and he would murder dancers who had fled to Crazy Horse Saloon and would set fire to compeditors bars and restaurants so as to chase them away. They were two of a kind apparently.

Eric Roberts gave a terrifying performance in Star 80 (1983) as Paul Snider-- I've never seen anything like it. And Wikipedia tells me Gwen Welles had a small part in the film! (Not sure if her machete-wearing boy-just-a-friend hung around the set though.)

It's almost like he "shot his career wad" in that performance--- he could never go deeper than that or be better than that. I dunno.... Yeah, IMDb says he's been in about 50 properties released in 2024! How could that be possible?

This is interesting methinks, from Wikipedia:

Bogdanovich opposed the production [of Star 80] and refused to allow the film to use his name. He was portrayed as the fictional "Aram Nicholas", and he threatened litigation if he found the character objectionable. Shortly after, Hefner accused Bogdanovich of seducing Stratten's younger sister Louise when she was 13. On December 30, 1988, the 49-year-old Bogdanovich married 20-year-old Louise, sparking a tabloid frenzy.
